Davis Square, Somerville

I forgot I'd taken this photo and, subsequently, altered it a bit to give it some color. As I remember, it was shot on a cold, overcast day and I was disappointed in the result. I'm not sure what I thought it would turn out like on such a day (late in the afternoon to boot). I like it much better after alteration!

For those of you who do not know the Somerville area, it has undergone great revitalization in the past several years. What was once an area to avoid is now a sought-after locale, and Davis Square is one of it's most vital social areas. Bruce Springsteen has played at the Somerville Theater, a former movie house and it boasts the long-standing club, Johnny D's Uptown.

Welcome to P-Town!

A beautiful town hall in one of my favorite places on earth: Provincetown, Massachusetts. A while ago, we vacationed there two times a year. It was a second home to my daughter, Thalia.

The Bovine "Come Hither" Look

And you think this cow didn't pose for this photo? Take a real good look. This shot was taken at the Topsfield Fair when Aaron was still in a stroller. So, it has to be at least five years old. We had been harassed into the bovine section by my daughter, Thalia. The result was this photo, which actually does look as though the cow knew what I was doing. It is one of my favorite animal photos.

The Kids are Alright!

As with all mothers, I have more photos of my kids than anything. However, I don't spend my time clogging the megabytes with them. There are some, however, that stand out. Photos where the kids are doing what comes naturally are the best. I always tell my clients, "Just put me together with your kids for a few hours and I'll get you some great shots. Don't worry about posing and what clothes they are in." Just let them be themselves.

This shot is down on Cape Cod. The kids are checking out the mighty Atlantic from a scenic vista.

Altered States

This photo is actually older, at least by four or five years. This decanter sat in our plant window in Beverly for a few years before I finally decided to shoot it. I didn't like what I was getting, so I decided to alter it. I especially like the way the plants "interact" with it.

Shadow Land

I wasn't sure if this photo would amount to anything when I shot it. However, I did think it would at least be interesting. "Shadow Land" was actually shot looking down from the top of the garage at the Mass General Hospital. It is definitely one of my favorites.

The Legend of Perley's

Around these parts, Perley's is legendary. There's a Perley's breakfast place (shown here, with tapestry effects), a Perley's Marina, a Perley's gas station with antique pumps (and some of the lowest prices you can find on a daily basis). We're not quite sure who the hell Perley is though. There are a lot of rumors. This particular Perley's is in rural Rowley, MA.
